Like most of the other people in the Sony Forum, I DID NOT do any of the firmware upgrades. However, my SONY BRAVIA KDL-46V5100 LCD TV stopped displaying pictures.

I followed all the different RESET options that have been provided by Sony eSupport for other members, but nothing seem to be working. Neither POWER reset nor FACTORY reset methods provided in your forum seem to make any difference with this unit. I unplugged the TV and removed any and all attached cables to the Cable TV box, Blu Ray player. The only wire going to the TV is the power cable. I removed the power cable and left it out over night. The next day morning I connected the Power calbe and the TV powers on automatically every time and stays on. I have no information like 'NO SIGNAL', nothing. Whatsapp Plus Themes Xml.

I cannot turn off the TV either with the remote or with the Power Button on the side of the TV. The only way to turn off the TV is by unplugging the Power cable. The TV is lit becasue I can see a bluish gray hue when the power is ON. When I unplug the power cable the backlit is off and the screen goes black (like it should). I have tried various methods by changing the power source from surge protector to direct wall socket. Changed the blu ray player with a different one. Unplugged the TV Cable and re plugged, etc.

But nothing seem to be working. My question is, is there a Firmware upgrade software that I can download and put it in the Service socket using a USB Thumb drive? Or is this unit lost cause? Based on the description of the problem you are currently experiencing with this unit if you have already tried resetting it back to factory default settings it will be necessary to take the television to an authorized repair center. Unfortunately, it is difficult to perform a firmware update when you are currently not getting a picture to show the progress if the update is detected or installing correctly.

And I still have to power the tv off, give it a minute, turn it back on, and then most of the time the sound comes back for a while. Support asked me what my software number was (shorty after I recorded and edited this video), and told me there was nothing newer than what I had, and there was nothing they could do. That was within the 1 year warranty! So Black Friday is approaching, and I will be replacing this tv! I will be choosing a manufacturer OTHER THAN SONY!! Someone who will stand behind their product and cares about their customers!

Any suggestions? If so, please leave a comment! And this description would be COMPLETELY DIFFERENT if Sony had stood behind their product, and actually assisted me with this! I would actually be supporting them, and speaking highly of them.

I will not be purchasing another Sony product after this experience with them and their customer support! I was having FREQUENT HDMI problems! I mean, while playing a game, the sound would go in and out non stop!

Sometimes, it would just go out period and you would have no sound! I was about to see if I could get my tv exchanged but I threw away the HUGE box because it took a lot of space. So I was about to call Sony but I remembered seeing USB port that said service, and I wondered if I could do it on my own. So I went to sony.com and searched for my tv and read the big bold letters, 'IMPORTANT - A software update is available for your tv. And my TV was bought in Feb 2010 (and it was on clearance for 799 dollars compared to 1,399!

There was a time Sony's support side was down (go Figure!), so you couldn't download the zip, to update your tv!
