Also, im using an old sim card that has been activated with itunes in order to make this iphone into an ipod touch so i can use the wifi without the data plan.Am i missing a step? Do i need to hacktivate it, or unlock it first? This will be my first jailbreak and i would REALLY like to donate to the team here.but i cant seem to get this thing right! The genius at the apple store told me that they couldnt help me with turning it into an ipod touch, im out of warranty. Screw em, im going to jailbreak it.

I swear i will donate if someone can get me to the point where i can use my iphone 3g (as an ipod touch) to get on wifi at home and work. Has anyone actually READ the RC5 Readme? Because iPhone 3G is NOT listed in there yet it is here in this article title(??). So has ANYONE gotten GP-Win to work on 3G? I have tried multiple Windows systems with no USB hubs yet GP can’t see DFU mode. And yet I can see the driver in Device Mgr.

64-bit, 32-bit, Win XPsp3 mode yep, have wasted a few hours now. Alway the “Try Again” button. Never tried GP before.

But if it bottoms at 3GS when 4.2.1 is the last 3G release EVER, I’ll be curious what the real limitation was. So I tried the GP RC4&5 and both work fine, well almost but now my push is not working properly on my iPad, I tried it a total of 4 times, 2 on Mac with rc4 and rc5 from a clean restored iPhone both times, and 2 from windows 7 with RC4 and RC5 also from clean rested iPhone both times. As soon as I reload my push enabled Apps they don’t actually push data. Not even native mail app. No my FeeddlerPro not my picture of the day enabled apps I have to manually fetch the data. But the apps do retrieve the Pushed data when I restore to un Jailbroken iOS on both the iPod touch and iPad. Any one else having this issues?

Also bug is reproduced on my ipod touch 4th g. The iphone is a great phone and the reason why our phone technology is awesome now but im sorry whats great about looking at apps all day why not look at some cool animation like the evo like moving clouds and a big clock that flips the new phones theses days are looking sexier then ever and dont use installous as an excuse cuz u can pirate apps on any phone so what is it that makes you an addict? Hey, Donno if anyone can help, but this is just wierd.

I have had jailbroken iphones since the begining. A few nights ago, my iphone 4 began to lose a charge over night.

That was on 4.1. I had not installed anything new via cydia in weeks. On Friday I missed school b/c my phone died overnight. Yesterday I went to apple (after performing a quick restore) and after much complaining, they gave me a brand new iphone. It came stock with 4.2.

I jailbroke with greenpoison. I added 1 source, hackulo, and two tweeks (infinidock and infinifolders).

Please keep in mind that I set this up as a new iphone and did not restore from a backup. My battery is depleting at an unfathomable rate.

It cannot hold a charge over night (I sleep for 12 hours, but c’mon 🙂 If anyone has any feedback, please respond, I would be eternally greatful if someone could tell me what the problem is.

In this Instructable I will show you how to do the following: 1. Finding the App 2. Upgrading Cydia 3.

Update your Applications 4.Searching for New Applications 5. Installing New Applications 6.

Remove or Reinstall Applications 7. Adding Sources 8. View and Manage Storage 9. Some great Suggested Sources 10.

Some great Suggested Apps Overall, just read the title! You'll know how to use Cydia and find some great applications by the time you're done reading this. Step 1: How to Use Cydia: Finding It. Upgrade Cydia From here if you haven't run Cydia in a while, or this is your first time running, you may get a notice about 'Essential upgrades'. These are upgrades to the Cydia application itself that may be required for installing new packages and apps: *Press Upgrade Essential *Press Confirm to begin the download and install *Wait for Complete and press Close Window *Press the home key, and then re-open Cydia to continue NOTE: After installing essential upgrades, it's always a good idea to restart Cydia to make sure the new packages are reloaded. Repeat Step 1 to open Cydia again (though you probably already guessed that).

Step 3: How to Use Cydia: Update Applications. Update Applications If you've installed applications previously you may see a numbered notification next to the Changes menu.

This indicates that there are updates available for currently installed applications. For our walkthrough I'll update the NES emulator I downloaded a couple of days ago. Backtrack 4 With Spoonwep And Spoonwpa. To update applications: *Press Changes *Press Upgrade All (#) [top right of screen] *Press Confirm to begin download and installation You'll notice on the last shot that NES has disappeared from the list and the notification (red 1) on the changes option has been removed. NOTE: Changes also contains applications that have recently been added or changed, this is a good place to go to find new applications on a regular basis. Step 4: How to Use Cydia: Searching for Applications.

Installing New Applications Let's install something new. I love Pac-Man, and it just so happens that the developer of Mac-Man, a great Pac-Man clone, is available on Cydia under the games category. To install an application: *Press Install [on the bottom] *Browse through categories to Games *Press Macman *Press Install on top right *Press Confirm to begin the download and installation You will see it run through a series of steps... *Press Close Window Now Macman is successfully installed, you should be able to hit your home key, wait for your homescreen to refresh, and a tempting new Macman icon will be waiting for you.

Step 6: How to Use Cydia: Removing or Reinstalling Applications. Removing or Reinstalling Applications Ok, so now you have an application installed, but you don't really want to play it anymore. Removing it is as simple as a few taps: *Open Cydia again *Press Manage • Click on Packages *Scroll and find Macman *Press Macman *Press Modify [top right of the screen] *Press Remove (you could reinstall if you were having issues with the application, like it wouldn't start) *Press Confirm to begin removing the app *Once you see Complete, press home and the Macman icon should be gone Step 7: How to Use Cydia: Adding Sources.

Adding Sources These are the steps to follow to add a source to Cydia: • 1 - Launch Cydia, tap 'Manage' in the dock and then tap 'Sources' • 2 - Cydia update its current sources, then press the Manage tab at the bottom of the screen. • 3 - Press the Sources button. • 4 - Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen. • 5 - Press the Add button at the top left of the screen. • 6 - Enter your source (example: in the space, then press the Add Source button.

• 7 - Let Cydia add and update the source, then press the Return to Cydia button at the bottom of the screen. • 8 - Press the Done button in the top right of the screen. Step 11: Wrap Up. Thanks for viewing my instructable!

Be sure to check out my other ones, and rate and comment them as you see fit. You should now know how to: 1. Finding the App 2. Upgrading Cydia 3. Update your Applications 4.Searching for New Applications 5. Installing New Applications 6.

Remove or Reinstall Applications 7. Adding Sources 8.

View and Manage Storage And. Have Some great Suggested Sources 10. Have Some great Suggested Apps As always, I'm open to any form of constructive criticism. Let me know how you like my Instructables. Some cydia apps cost money. Nothing is free legally. You can get free apps using installous, but as stated in the instructable, it is not legal.

You can also get free in-app purchases by downloading something called iAP Cracker in cydia, but you have to add another source, and I don't think it's legal. There is a source that allows you to get copies of cydia apps for free. It's just like installous, except when you search the cydia app you want in cydia, there will be two of the app you are looking for. One will be free and the other one will cost.
